Procrastination and Delayed Gratification

Think back to January 1st. Do you remember making a New Year's Resolution? How's that going? Statistically speaking, if you are like the average American, there is a low likelihood that your New Year's resolution lasted beyond the first week. If I had to guess, I would suspect that at some point in time you said to yourself "I'll just start my diet/saving money/finding a new partner, etc. tomorrow". And now that we're in the middle of July, you may have realized that, when it comes to self-improvement, tomorrow often never comes. We tend to neglect putting ourselves on the line or making commitments that will benefit our long-term interests because we plan on doing it when all the stars line up. But life doesn't work like that. Sometimes, you have to just get up and do it. You can't wait for the perfect pitch to swing at--often times, you have to leave your comfort zone if you wish to become a better version of your self.

The time to start is now. Not tomorrow. If you want to become the best version of yourself possible, then you can't afford to wait for the nebulous tomorrow to come. Gen X Finance has a great article on the causes and effects of procrastination, and it is definitely worth your time to read it here: http://genxfinance.com/fighting-procrastination-tomorrow-will-come-again/ .
